DEJAWU VS. PANUCCI SPECIAL RELIC EDITION

The Dejawu-Panucci Special Relic Edition, or how we call it: “The Dejanucci” is the result of a unique collaboration between Dongming and Derk Jan from Dejawu Guitars and our dear colleague and very skilled guitar builder Angelo (also a Dutchman) from Panucci Custom Guitars. Angelo has been building guitars for many years and is great in aging and creating the best vintage vibe.

The semi-hollow body and three-piece set neck of The Dejanucci are completely carved by hand from solid flame maple (by Dongming). The body is slightly wider than most of our other E-Specials (16.4" / 41.7cm), and is trimmed with a 7-ply binding. The process of coloring, lacquering, the craquelure and aging of the hardware was handled by Angelo. Derk Jan took care of the soldering of the electronics and assembling the hardware.

This guitar gives the player many great sound options. The Häussel Vintage NA2BA5 pickups are a perfect match. The Bigsby B70 Tremolo Unit makes it even more versatile. Particularly interesting on this guitar are the switch positions. It is equipped with a Free-Way 3x3-05 six-position toggle switch. In position 4 the humbuckers are wired in series, producing an excellent full and warm sound. It also offers two different out phase sounds. Position 5 offers series out phase and position 6 is wired parallel out phase. The neck volume pot works as a mastervolume when two pickups are active. The bridge volume is used to blend in the bridge pickup.

  • The tops, backs and necks of our guitars are completely carved by hand, using exclusively premium solid tone woods with outstanding tonal quality. Our guitars are built from one piece, allowing the wood to vibrate more freely, producing a more complex and dynamic sound.

The construction of our semi-acoustic guitars - all of which are equipped with a square center block at the bridge position - eliminates all possible feedback problems entirely while maintaining its acoustic properties. The center of the top maintains its original thickness, while the rest of the wood is carefully carved away by hand. In this way, there is no tension on the top and therefore there is no tendency to bend and/or deform over time. This method eliminates the need for a center block that covers the entire body length of the guitar needed for stability and to avoid feedback.

Every guitar we build has a completely unique look. The hand polished nitro-cellulose lacquer highlights the individual character of the grain, while maintaining the sound characteristics of the wood.
